All aboard! On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the New York Transit Museum and MTA New York City Transit are hosting the Bus Festival 2025 at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Emily Warren Roebling Plaza. From 10 AM to 3:30 PM, transit fans of all ages can climb aboard vintage buses, explore NYC’s transportation history, and enjoy a family-friendly day with the Manhattan skyline as your backdrop. Best of all? It’s free.

🚍 Bus Festival 2025 Highlights

The Bus Festival isn’t just about buses — it’s about celebrating the vehicles and people that keep New York moving.

  • Explore vintage buses from the Museum’s historic fleet:

    • “Betsy” (1931) — one of the last double-decker buses in service on Fifth Avenue.

    • Bus #3100 (1956) — the very first air-conditioned bus in the United States.

    • Bus #4727 (1969) — a dependable Bronx workhorse built by Flxible.

    • Bus #5227 (1971) — a classic “New Look” GM bus nicknamed a “Blitz Bus.”

  • Hands-on activities for kids and families.

  • Meet MTA staff and learn how NYC’s transit system keeps running.

  • Photo ops galore — nothing beats a vintage bus lined up under the Brooklyn Bridge.
